RevOps, short for revenue operations, connects the people, processes, and platforms behind revenue. It covers how a customer finds you, buys from you, receives the work, and pays you.
A sales process can bring in business. RevOps looks at what has to happen across the company for that business to be delivered and profitable.
The four cycles behind revenue
At Full Throttle, we look at revenue through four connected cycles:
Marketing: Turn attention into an inquiry the team can act on.
Sales: Qualify the opportunity and agree on what the customer is buying.
Operations: Deliver what was promised with the right information and capacity.
Finance: Invoice, collect, and understand what the work actually earned.
Each cycle depends on the same foundations: People, Process, and Platform. Someone owns the work, the steps are defined, and the systems support those steps.
Why the connections matter
A signed deal can look good in the sales report while the delivery team is still missing the scope. Work starts late, costs change, and finance has to chase the details before sending an invoice.
RevOps follows that whole path. Where should the scope be captured? Who checks it? What does the next team need before taking over? How will the business see whether the job made money?
The work might involve building the CRM around the actual process, fixing a handoff, or connecting job costs to reporting the team can use. A new tool only helps when the responsibilities and process are clear.
Where to start
Pick one customer journey and follow it from the first inquiry to payment. Look for the points where information goes missing, work waits, or nobody is sure who owns the next step. That's a useful starting point for deciding what needs to change.
